Eligibility Criteria

Admission to the BDS programme at BGS GIDS is governed by National Dental Commission ( NDC ) regulations and the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) guidelines.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

Age

The candidate must have completed 18+ years of age as on December 31 of the year of admission.

Academic Qualification

The candidate must have passed the 10+2 (Class XII) or equivalent examination from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects, and English as one of the subjects.

Minimum Marks

The candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) in Class XII. For Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, the minimum is 40%.

Entrance Examination

A valid NEET UG score is mandatory for all candidates. NEET UG is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Candidates must have qualified NEET UG in the year of admission.

NEET Qualifying Percentile

General: 50th percentile; SC/ST/OBC: 40th percentile; PWD: 45th percentile (subject to DCI/RGUHS notifications for the relevant academic year).

Seat Matrix

BGS GIDS offers 50 BDS seats per academic year, distributed across the following categories (subject to change based on government notifications):

Government Quota (State Quota — KEA)

Allotted through Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) counselling for Karnataka domicile candidates.

All India Quota (AIQ)

15% of government seats allotted through MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) counselling — open to candidates from all states.

Management Quota

Filled by the institution directly, based on NEET merit.

NRI Quota

Reserved for NRI students and NRI-sponsored candidates. Admission is merit-based on NEET score.

Step-by-Step Admission Process

Step 1

Appear for NEET UG conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Ensure you meet the qualifying cutoff for your category.

Step 2

Register on the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) portal (kea.kar.nic.in) for state quota seats, or on the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) portal (mcc.nic.in) for AIQ seats.

Step 3

Upload required documents: Class X and XII marksheets, NEET admit card and scorecard, caste certificate (if applicable), domicile/nativity certificate (for Karnataka quota), passport-size photographs, and identity proof.

Step 4

Participate in the counselling process — fill in your choice of college and course, and await seat allotment based on merit and availability.

Step 5

Upon receiving an allotment order, report to BGS GIDS within the stipulated time for document verification.

Step 6

Pay the prescribed fees at the college to complete the admission process.

Step 7

Collect your admission letter, student ID and join the orientation programme.

Is NEET mandatory for BDS admission?

Yes. A valid NEET UG score is mandatory for admission to the BDS programme at BGS GIDS, as per DCI and RGUHS regulations.

Can students from outside Karnataka apply?

Yes. Students from all states can apply through the All India Quota (15% seats through MCC) or through the Management/NRI quota. Karnataka domicile is required only for state quota seats.

Is a hostel facility available?

Yes. BGS GIDS students have access to the well-maintained hostel facilities at the BGS Health & Education City, with separate hostels for boys and girls. The hostels provide nutritious meals, 24/7 security and recreational facilities.

What is the medium of instruction?

English is the medium of instruction for all BDS courses at BGS GIDS.

Is NRI quota available?

Yes. NRI quota seats are available. Please contact the admissions office for details on eligibility and the application process.

What documents are required at the time of admission?

Class X marksheet, Class XII marksheet, NEET scorecard, NEET admit card, transfer certificate, migration certificate (if from a board outside Karnataka), caste/category certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate (for Karnataka quota), Aadhaar card, passport-size photos, and any other documents as notified by KEA/MCC.

Does BGS GIDS offer any management quota seats?
